Naturally inspiring

If lockdown has taught us one thing, it is how important our connection with nature is. The psychology of design suggests that using colours and textures inspired by nature can create calm and build a sense of freedom – even in the busiest city.

Whether we are designing for compact urban spaces, or have the opportunity to link gardens and communal spaces to the living environment, we have long been drawing on natural themes. And nature isn’t always about gentle tones, fun recent trends have seen the bold use of animal print and artwork featuring big cats and animals more usually seen on safari, so there’s opportunity to trigger different emotions through nature.
