The 237 unit scheme Brook Place is Grainger's first venture in Sheffield. Ranging from studios to three-bed properties, the development will also be home to 24-hour gym, co-working spaces and an 'experience kitchen' featuring specialist equipment. Grainger plc, the biggest residential landlord, wanted us to create a community feel within the amenity spaces for the young professional target market, who stay in the city after graduating.
Grainger wanted Inko to design the communal spaces with one focus in mind, creating a fantastic community. With the target market recently graduating from a student community lifestyle, it was essential for us to follow this idea but to create more of a grown-up vibe.
We created four unique areas. The co-working space has a variety of private and the open spaces created with shelving and booths. The experience kitchen includes all the equipment a chef could need, including a pizza oven. The games room features a variety of game options, TV for special sports events and a full-size foosball table. Finally, the roof terrace includes lots of lounge zones facing the spectacular view and an extra-large chess set.
Understanding Grainger's personality and approach towards the needs of its tenants helped us to get this project right. From brunches in the experience kitchen to Christmas film screenings, our work added to the real community vibe already felt at this new development.
